Beth Cayce CaraVita Home Care Mother's Day Blog

CaraVita Home Care takes a lot of pride in the fact that we are a family-owned and operated business. We desire to earn our client’s trust through personal, professional, and exceptional services. We work tirelessly to transform the lives of seniors and their families in our local community to help them live their best lives. In the spirit of Mother’s Day, we want to highlight some of the fantastic family duos we have working at CaraVita to improve the lives of seniors every day. In sharing these wonderful CaraVita mother’s, we hope to share a glimpse of the passion behind CaraVita Home Care—a passion that we want to grow and develop with each new generation!

We sat down with Laura Cayce, daughter of Beth Cayce, CaraVita Founder and CEO, to talk to us about her job and how her mother has inspired her!

What inspired you to work in this industry?

My first job in senior living was in a small town in Winterville, Georgia. I worked as an activity director at an assisted living community there. All of the residents grew up together and knew each other. It was a very close and tight-knit community. Never before had I worked a job that brought me so much joy. Each day through motivating and inspiring my residents to be active and social, I was also motivated and enriched. Every morning, I was greeted by smiling faces sitting on the front porch in rocking chairs. They were sipping coffee, talking about the weather, and just enjoying the morning and the moment. I never had a day without laughter and them sharing some life lesson or experience with me. Life was simple there and each day and moment was valued. I always knew I wanted to help others and after this job, I knew I wanted to work with seniors.

What is one story you remember about your mom’s passion for caring for seniors?

Growing up, we used to visit my great grandmother in this really old nursing home in Savannah. It was sadly quite an awful place. It was more like a hospital than a house. Throughout my childhood, my mom always had a passion for helping seniors. She used to always talk about wanting to create a place for seniors that was not like a nursing home and felt more like home. She wanted to create better options for care and dementia trained staff. When she started CaraVita Home Care, this was always her vision. I feel this was accomplished in our senior living communities all of which were small, unique, and had a homelike feel. She individually trained her staff and shared her dementia experiences. This vision was also accomplished when CaraVita began training staff and offering in-home care.

How has your mom’s passion impacted you?

Her passion has impacted my whole life. Her passion led me to my career as a geriatric social worker and care manager.  Serving families and seniors every day is an extremely rewarding experience. I look forward to going to work each day and can’t imagine doing anything else. I love being part of CaraVita and feel blessed being a part of such a fantastic company always driven by her passion and dedication.

What is so special about getting to work alongside your mom each day?

My mom and I are very close. It is like working with your best friend every day. Her vision and passion have impacted so many people in my home town and in Atlanta. My mom has worked so hard to provide a higher level of care to every life she touches, and her passion has provided CaraVita Home Care with an excellent reputation as a result. It feels extraordinary to be a part of that and carry on this vision for many more years.

What has your mom taught you that impacts your daily life?

She has always been a loving, devoted, and motivated individual. She is a very loving person always wanting to help, teach, and guide others. Through helping others in need, life can be so enriching and meaningful. [I believe that] what you give always comes back to you. Her devotion to both seniors and god has always been an inspiration and is how I wish to mirror my life. Her strong motivation to continuously grow, become better, and think outside the box has always pushed me to work hard and strive to be a better person each day.
